Discount Tire-America’s Tire Cup $25,000 Award to be Awarded This Weekend

West Hollywood, CA (June 25, 2012) – Discount Tire-America’s Tire, the nation’s largest tire and wheel retailer, will award the Global Rallycross Championship Discount Tire-America’s Tire Cup worth $25,000 cash this Saturday evening at Round 5 of the GRC season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

With twenty points up for grabs in Las Vegas, twelve drivers still have a chance to win the title, which is currently led by Tanner Foust and Brian Deegan, tied at thirty-two points each. Travis Pastrana in the Red Bull / Discount Tire Dodge Dart lies fourth in the standings, just nine points shy of the lead.

The Global Rallycross Championship Discount Tire-America’s Tire Cup is a championship within a championship comprised of three rounds (#2 Texas Motor Speedway, #4 New Hampshire Motor Speedway and #5 Las Vegas Motor Speedway) of the six race 2012 Global Rallycross Championship.

Marcus Gronholm 21 points

Unfortunately, Gronholm will be sitting out this round under doctor’s orders, but is flying in from Finland to see the outcome of the Discount Tire-America’s Tire Cup.
