WEST HOLLYWOOD, Ca., 11 October | The Global RallyCross Championship today tapped Wasserman Media Group, LLC to head their business development efforts, including growing business relationships, as well as manufacturer and commercial partnerships for the quickly growing auto racing series.

“In just one season, the series founders have worked tirelessly to put rallycross on the map and as a result, the fans have embraced it, especially the younger generation that is a sweet spot for marketers,” said Steve Astephen, Wasserman Principal of Action Sportsand Lifestyle. “We are looking forward to working with the RallyCross team to continue their momentum as well as ramp up awareness through solid partnerships, social media campaigns, and broadcast deals. The GRC is the only rallycross series we will back.”

With the involvement of auto makers like Ford, Hyundai and Subaru, corporate activation from brands such as Best Buy, Cooper Tires, Etnies, Red Bull and Rockstar Energy Drink, plus a television and online platform provided by ESPN, the world leader in sports broadcasting, the GRC exceeded expectations in event attendance, social mediaawareness and television ratings.

In 2012, the GRC will be adding several rounds plus two rounds at the Summer X Games in Los Angeles. All events will be broadcast live on either ESPN or ESPN2 and will feature top returning drivers like defending champion Tanner Foust and Brian Deegan, plus Wasserman Media Group represented drivers Ken Block, Travis Pastrana and Dave Mirra, along with several new and exciting faces.

Travis Pastrana commented, “When I heard about the formation of the Global RallyCross last year I really wanted to try and compete as I’m a firm believer this is the future direction of the sport. Unable to compete last year, I’m ecstatic that I’ll be able to compete in 2012. Rally is one of my passions and I’m really looking forward to next year and going after a championship!”

“The first season demonstrated that fans love the GRC, whether they attended the event live, watched it on TV or caught it on the internet,” said series co-founder Chip Pankow.“The growth has been exponential, and we’re thrilled to be working with Wasserman. They have a deep understanding of the action sports scene and their input will be invaluable as we grow GRC into a revolutionary sports property.”
