Heikkinen Off To Record-Setting Start to 2013 Season

Through three races in last year’s Global Rallycross season, Toomas Heikkinen had only seven points. He was disqualified from the main event at Charlotte, earning tenth place points, before finishing last at Texas (again via disqualification) and injuring himself in X Games Los Angeles jump practice.

What a difference a year makes.

Heikkinen has 55 points, the result of hard work, raw speed, and a finely tuned Ford Fiesta ST from OlsbergsMSE. The only driver to earn a medal in all three X Games events so far this year, his hot start has set a Global Rallycross record for the most points scored through the first three races of a season.

Here’s how his start stacks up against other drivers in GRC history:

  1. Toomas Heikkinen, 55 points (2013)
  2. Tanner Foust, 49 (2011)
  3. Tanner Foust, 48 (2012)
  4. Marcus Gronholm, 43 (2012)
  5. Liam Doran, 43 (2013)
