Block Brings Global Rallycross-Tested RX43 Fiesta to Gymkhana Six
Fresh off of a victory in the Global Rallycross season finale in Las Vegas on Thursday, Ken Block celebrated the release of his sixth Gymkhana video on Monday. The six-minute precision driving video features everything from the return of Segway donuts to stunts involving backhoes and even a spiked wrecking ball.
Even more interesting to Global Rallycross fans, however: the Ford Fiesta ST RX43 that won Thursday’s race is the same vehicle seen sliding through shipping containers in the viral smash hit.
“(Gymkhana Six) is what this car did last,” Block said during the Vegas event. “The video was a lot of fun to make—we went back to the roots of Gymkhana and just made the ultimate course, all in one place at the San Bernadino Airport. The video has come out really well, and we’re looking forward to seeing everybody’s reactions.”
Block’s RX43 has been one of the top cars throughout the Global Rallycross season, taking him all the way to third in points after a fifth place finish in 2012. The car, which boasts 650 horsepower according to the video, has helped Block earn a series-high four top seeds and 11 of 13 heat wins in 2013, as well as the victory in the season finale.
