Olsbergs MSE announced today that Patrik Sandell and Joni Wiman will drive for the team in the 2014 Global Rallycross season. Sandell, a native of Ostersund, Sweden, and Wiman, a native of Finland, will campaign Ford Fiesta STs for the Supercars Driver’s Championship.

“I am excited to introduce our OMSE Ford drivers—the present and future stars of the sport,” OMSE CEO Andreas Eriksson said in a team release. “The drivers on our 2014 roster demonstrate our commitment to building the sport of rallycross.”

Sandell completed his first Supercars season with OMSE in 2013, finishing sixth in the championship with podium finishes at Brazil and New Hampshire and a pair of heat victories at Bristol. Prior to heading to Global Rallycross, Sandell won the 2006 Junior World Rally Championship and finished second in the 2010 Super 2000 World Rally Championship.

Wiman won the inaugural GRC Lites championship in dominant fashion in 2013, earning victories in each of the six races on the schedule. The protégé of two-time World Rally champion Marcus Gronholm, he also earned two top seeds and wins in eight of his nine heat races.

OMSE held an open house and tour of its headquarters in Sweden, with Global Rallycross CEO Colin Dyne in attendance.

“Olsbergs MSE is a valuable team partner to the Global Rallycross series,” said Dyne. “They are a strong, professional organization who believe in the kinds of driver development and technological advancement that builds the sport. We are pleased to welcome the team back to the GRC in 2014.”

Olsbergs MSE is the winningest team in Global Rallycross history, having taken 18 of a possible 23 victories and all three Supercars Driver’s Championships in the first three seasons of GRC competition. The team also helped lead Ford to Manufacturer’s Championships in 2012 and 2013.
